Loss for words. The person I thought should be our next President betrayed my trust. As a blogger activist on the netroots level and a captain of Edwards' grassroots campaign group, many of us and I believed in his message wholeheartedly.
Can't be true. all this speculation by tabloid journalists. Must be a right-wing conspiracy or a ploy to sell more issues. Lies are real. Edwards is a phony. How can someone trust him now when he speaks out on poverty and fair wages?!
Now I think about the Edwards' family.
John, don't you dare put Elizabeth next to you on the podium and have her suffer a similar fate as Spitzer's wife, recounting the humiliation and regrets.
Hopefully Elizabeth, Cate, Emma and Jack will be brave and know we have them in our thoughts and prayers during this time.
Raw but reserved I write how I feel. Share your thoughts below.
The mom of Paris Hilton had this to say about McCain's ad contrasting her daughter to Obama:
On Sunday, Hilton's mother, Kathy Hilton, a McCain donor, registered her disapproval. "It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs," Kathy Hilton said in a short article posted on the liberal Huffington Post Web site. "And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the United States."
Hearing the news of Tim Russert's passing made me think about the moments of watching him on Sunday mornings on Meet the Press. Though he booked mainly conservative pundits and at times biased against progressive guests, one must admire his dedication to the job.
He really did his research and asked hard hitting questions for those special 'gotcha' moments. Searching on youtube I found one which is classic Tim Russert. He had John McCain as a guest discussing the Iraq war and well...roll that footage!
You don't need a decoder ring or a weegie board to decipher Hillary's message to Democratic nominee Barack Obama.
Her campaign is run by top political consultants. Make no mistake, the message in what was her final campaign speech was based on strategy to spin a certain outcome:
Obama, you better select me as Veep.
Lets examine certain portions of her speech:
Call me a cynic, but this reconcilliaton is all a bunch of malarky.
A sham. A mockery.
Shamockery.
These political wounds run deep from attacks of candidate's intelligence, heritage, race, associations, policy platforms, and gaffes. Many encapsulate this as their surrogates and ardent supporters to prove their point or knock down another's rationale.
And now after this slugfest, I find an instant shaking of hands and pats on the back like we signed the Dayton Peace Accords. Hillary supporters are smart and can see right through this feigned sympathy.
My advice.
Let the Hillary supporters be. Let time pass. This will not be over til Hillary decides to step down which signals to her supporters to stand down and coalesce around Obama which will be weeks from now.
For those hoping for an everlasting peace. This lovefest will end shortly folks.
MyDD will return back to a hotbed of heated debate and antaganosim in which both sides put the throat on the jugular or slice away at the others' credibility and elecability.
Have fun and stop being 'nice'. Be honest and respectful and maybe one day we will truly coalesce against McCain '08
An estimated 3,000 Guamanians have casted their votes for their choice for the Democratic nominee. Up for grabs is 8 delegates (which get a half vote) added with 5 super delegates means this tiny island will be sending 9 delegates. Since it is an open caucus and will have a significant impact, many of the tropical islander are registering as Democrats.
Have the candidates overlooked Guam? Hardly.
Barack has a campaign office and Hillary did a live telecast:
There are reports of long lines and ballots are being tabulated as we speak:
Obama uses Bounce when flung into the dirty laundry of politics.
Hillary has been spin cycling Obama's remarks as 'elitist' and will use them to run a negative tv ad campaign.
Hoping the static will cause friction and his words 'cling' when voters head to the polls.
How will this effect the Pennsylvannia Primary?
More below the fold:
Just got off the phone with my buddy Brian who is a staffer for Obama. He was telling me about what has been happening over the weekend:
A caravan of twenty volunteers from Brooklyn arrived to knock on doors during the weekend. As a group they combined to knock on over a thousand doors in South Philly.
This is the one bright spot.
We then talked about the polls and debate whether Obama can win PA. He says Obama will win by a squeaker. I say Hillary 54-46. At least someone is optimistic.
Enough on semantics. Now it no longer a weekend, there hasn't been an onslaught of volunteers to meet the need to canvass in South Philly.
Being the netroots activist I am, Brian requested 'a call to arms' to get the word out to send volunteers to Brian's satellite office in South Philly.
